Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Advanced Business and Finance Studies (JABFS) maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism in any form. Upholding academic integrity and originality is fundamental to the journal’s mission of advancing high-quality scholarly research.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
-
Direct Plagiarism – Copying another person’s work word-for-word without proper citation.
-
Paraphrasing Plagiarism – Rewriting someone else’s ideas without adequate acknowledgment of the original source.
-
Mosaic Plagiarism – Piecing together phrases, sentences, or ideas from different sources to create a work without proper attribution.
-
Self-Plagiarism – Republishing one’s own previously published work (in whole or in part) without appropriate citation or disclosure.
-
Image/Data Plagiarism – Using tables, figures, images, or datasets without permission or proper attribution.
2. Plagiarism Detection
-
All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using reliable similarity detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or similar tools).
-
A similarity index above the acceptable threshold (generally 20%) will prompt editorial review and may lead to outright rejection.
-
Similarity due to correctly cited references, standard phrases, or methodology descriptions is exempt from penalty.
3. Actions in Case of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected before publication:
-
The manuscript will be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright, depending on the severity.
If plagiarism is detected after publication: -
The article may be retracted, with a retraction notice published on the journal website.
-
The author’s affiliated institution may be notified.
-
The author may be barred from future submissions for a defined period.
4. Author Responsibility
-
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original and that all sources are properly cited in accordance with academic standards.
-
When reproducing previously published materials (including figures, tables, or text), authors must obtain written permission from the copyright holder and acknowledge the source.
Commitment to Originality
By submitting a manuscript to JABFS, authors affirm that their work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is free from any form of plagiarism. The journal’s editorial board reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
