Withdrawal Policy
The Journal of Advanced Business and Finance Studies (JABFS) recognizes that authors may sometimes need to withdraw a submitted manuscript. However, manuscript withdrawal is a serious matter and is discouraged once the peer review and publication process has begun. This policy outlines acceptable withdrawal circumstances, procedures, and possible consequences.
1. Acceptable Reasons for Withdrawal
A manuscript may be withdrawn under the following circumstances:
-
Discovery of significant errors in the research that affect the validity of results.
-
Overlapping publication or unintentional duplicate submission to another journal.
-
Author’s inability to provide required revisions due to personal or professional reasons.
-
Ethical concerns identified by the authors after submission.
2. Stages of Withdrawal
a) Before Peer Review Begins
-
Authors may request withdrawal with no penalty by notifying the editorial office in writing.
b) During Peer Review
-
Withdrawal requests must include a valid reason.
-
Approval is at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief, considering the time and resources already invested by reviewers and editors.
c) After Acceptance but Before Publication
-
Withdrawal is strongly discouraged.
-
If approved, the authors may be charged a withdrawal fee to compensate for processing and production costs.
d) After Online Publication
-
Withdrawal is not permitted after publication.
-
In rare cases involving ethical violations, a retraction will be issued instead of withdrawal, with a formal notice published on the journal’s website.
3. Withdrawal Procedure
-
Authors must submit a written withdrawal request via the official journal email, clearly stating the manuscript title, submission ID, and reason for withdrawal.
-
All co-authors must sign the withdrawal request.
-
The editorial team will respond within 7 working days with a decision.
4. Consequences of Unethical Withdrawal
-
Authors who withdraw manuscripts without formal approval, especially during advanced stages, may be blacklisted from future submissions for a defined period (typically 1–2 years).
-
The author’s affiliated institution may be informed in cases of serious ethical misconduct.
