Corporate governance (CG) has long been recognized as a critical factor in the creation of long-term shareholder value. Strong governance practices provide a framework that ensures accountability, transparency, and strategic alignment between management and shareholders, thereby contributing to the financial performance and sustainability of firms. This paper investigates the influence of corporate governance frameworks on long-term shareholder value creation, focusing on the role of board structures, executive compensation, shareholder rights, and regulatory frameworks. Through a comparative analysis of developed and emerging market economies, the study evaluates the direct and indirect impacts of governance practices on firm value, investor confidence, and market reputation. Using data from Pakistan’s publicly listed companies, the study explores the effectiveness of local governance frameworks and suggests improvements that align them with international best practices. The findings highlight the critical role of governance structures in promoting sustainable business practices and enhancing long-term shareholder wealth.
